What is the general opinion of the staff, and of the students of homosexuality at Belmont University?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I’m considering transferring there, but I’m gay. I know that historically it is a Christian college, but have heard that they are becoming more secular. I’m wondering if anyone here attends/has attended Belmont before and can tell me how gay people are treated there (are they accepted by students, are they discriminated against, are there policies against it, etc). Thank you :D

honestly, your gonna get into problems into any place for being gay, not just one specific area.

im not discriminating but its true and especially in a catholic school.

i think that being gay isnt even a big deal because i know alot of kids that are gay and i still hang out with them like i used to when i didnt know they were gay.

Being gay wont really b other you unless you bring it out too much.

Can an apartment complex change policies in the middle of a lease(e.g. Trash Policy) and fine for violation?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

The apartment gave notice for a new trash service, however never clarified that the previous service was to be removed. Is this grounds for a lease violation or is the apartment bound from penalizing residents for changes not yet realized by the community.

they may not change the terms of lease. if those items you mentioned in question are not part of lease then yes they may change prior to end of lease.

Where can I find information about Bush’s economic policies?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I see a lot of reference to "Bush’s economic policies". The context of these references don’t shed any light on what the actual policies are. All I’ve been able to extract from the context are that the Bush economic policies are the root of all evil and portent the end of existence as we know it.

Where can I learn more about the actual policies and goals?

Thanks for all honest and unbiased answers.
I suspect that all the "root of all evil…" descriptions might be a bit too biased for my tastes. I’m looking for something a bit less biased.

Actually, He didn’t do bad at all. The normal business cycle produces periodic recessions. The longest time between recessions had been 11 years. Bush’s administration managed to keep it to a record 17 years. In the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, he managed to keep the country out of a recession when most economists predicted the country headed toward one. In 2003 the unemployment rate was 4.4% which matched the previous administrations best. Seeing as 2003 was well within Bush’s 1st administration, I think we can safely assume that one other answerer is biased and uninformed. Anyway, there’s a lot more to it than that. Since you asked for a place to find out more, see the following link.

Expense Reimbursement policy when employee’s on location?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

If our ocmpany has more than one location, and we send an employee from location A to location B for about a week & provide that employee with a condo (kitchen included), what is the usual policy for meal reimbursement?

Should we be reimbursing breakfast/lunch/dinner (can be per diem) for everyday though a kitchen was provided?

Is food provided in the condo? A selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner food products? Condiments? I hope cookware and dishes are available as well.

If the employee were at home, they would likely have access to their own groceries and pantry, and they would be able to shop around, use coupons, buy in bulk, etc. Such options are unlikely to be available to them in they are in town for short periods, and have to buy everything to make meals from scratch. If they want to make 1 omelet, they would need to buy a dozen eggs. Would they be able to use all those eggs within a week? Same for other food supplies if they need to stock the kitchen each time for themselves.

As it would very likely cost them more money to buy and prepare foods when they are staying at the condo than it would for them to do so at home, it seems reasonable that your company should provide reimbursement to even up the disparity, so that the employee is not ‘out of pocket’ on any expenses due to their location change.

Can I cancel an eyeglass order from a doctor’s office? What is the normal policy?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I went for an eye exam yesterday morning and ordered a pair of eyeglasses from the same office. After 24 hours, I called to cancel, but was told that the office would be charged by the laboratory for cancelling any orders. However, they themselves have stated the process could take a week before my glasses would be ready. Therefore, I don’t understand why I would be charge for a cancellation fee after only 24 hours? Is this a normal practice/policy?

With all due respect, I don’t agree with the other answerer. You don’t "have to" agree with their policy, you can rage against the man. They do not have right (legal or otherwise) to set an unreasonable policy. Did you sign something that said the order was not cancellable? They should settle with you, cancel the order in consideration of a payment of a small fee.

Nobody has a unilateral right to dictate terms, it is a contract between two parties. If the terms were not stated, they can not create them to suit their own purposes. They are probably trying to rip you off, and you have to argue with them. Most people just give up and pay, and that’s why bad business practices are allowed to proliferate.

Particularly during difficult economic times, some unscrupulous businesses will try to behave badly, because they need the dough. But that doesn’t mean they are allowed to do it. You have rights and if you don’t stand up for them, nobody else will.

Good luck.

How procedures and policies maintain working conditions?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I really need this. Im doing a course called Society health and development and I will be using this for one of my units.
I need help like ASAP!
Because it has to be handed in today. Please come up with ideas because im totally blank!

policies and Procedures maintain working conditions by:

maintaining a safe workplace ie … what to do if an accident happens, safety procedures in any settings ( factories etc.)

absenteeism… a company may have a policy stating so many absents could be cause for discipline.

lunches and breaks, overtime, pay increases,

Basically you can expand on these, and there is so much more. They are really done for the employee, to make their working conditions safe, fair and in fact easier.
Good luck:)

How do I find out what company now honors policies of an insurance company that’s gone out of business?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

What type of policy? If this was a property policy (homeowners, auto, etc) and the company went out of business during your policy term, the company was an admitted carrier (licensed to do business in your state) AND there was a loss that would have been covered, your State should have what is known as a Guaranty fund. Your covered loss would get paid out of this fund, less your deductible. You would have to contact your State Dept of Insurance to find out about it. If it was a life insurance policy, I really don’t know if the guaranty fund applies, sorry. You could be out of luck on that one, especially if it is an OLD policy.

What is an argument surrounding the policy issue of child support?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I have to write a research paper about the policy issue of child support and i need to focus in on an argument or controversial topic. I also need some pros and cons.

If you could help, that would be great! Thanks!

not sure how you would organize it – but some of the issues re: child support are:

there are no controls to ensure the funds are spent on the child
the custodial parent should not have to account for the funds

there are no accommodations if the parent paying support loses a job or takes a lower paying job.

custodial parents use child support as a condition of visitation

child support collection methods are ineffective. A parent can avoid paying by working out of the country, working under the table, etc.

Some would say child support schedules don’t require enough, others would say it’s too much.

hope these suggestions help. You might post this in the "marriage and divorce" section. They would have a lot of opinions. :)
