What good will business classes do for you in the future after graduating college?

Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin

What good will business classes do for you in the future after graduating college? Classes such as:

principles of microeconomics
principles of macroeconomics
introduction to communication
college math with calculus
introduction to computers
principles of accounting (both managerial and financial accounting classes)
data analysis with spreadsheets
communicating in business
legal and ethical environment of business
basic information systems
foundations of marketing practice
business statistical analysis using spreadsheets
finance
organizational behavior
business policy

What good will all these business foundation courses do for me in the future after I graduate college and receive my bachelors of business administration?

These classes will teach you a lot of how businesses operate and make money, how they market their products, how they set price points to gain market share or increase profits, how to manage and motivate people, etc. Some will be more useful than others in the business world, but a general overview and understanding is very valuable. More than likely, you will be trained in your own job role for your specific job duties. But this knowledge will give you a better understanding of the entire organization, as well as others that you converse with in your position outside of your company.

I think economics classes are especially important to understand the overall economy (i.e. why the fed is lowering interest rates to spur economic growth), and marketing and finance classes to the better understanding of what makes an organization successful.

With such a competitive job environment, your ceiling is higher with more education, coupled with good experience. Good luck.

What is America’s Policy regarding business with communist countries?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

The U.S. does business with China, but not necessarily other communist countries-maybe those other countries have other policies that the US doesn’t agree with,I don’t know ? If possible I’d like an informal explanation.

Other communist countries has nothing to offer the United States.

North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba and Cambodia do not possess any manufacturing abilities or a consumer-driven economy necessary to facilitate a good trade relationship between two countries.

Simply put, you do not do business with someone who can not make or buy anything from you.

Otherwise, your business wouldn’t survive.

How do I find out what company now honors policies of an insurance company that’s gone out of business?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

What type of policy? If this was a property policy (homeowners, auto, etc) and the company went out of business during your policy term, the company was an admitted carrier (licensed to do business in your state) AND there was a loss that would have been covered, your State should have what is known as a Guaranty fund. Your covered loss would get paid out of this fund, less your deductible. You would have to contact your State Dept of Insurance to find out about it. If it was a life insurance policy, I really don’t know if the guaranty fund applies, sorry. You could be out of luck on that one, especially if it is an OLD policy.

Why is South Carolina’s unemployment rate so high? Why don’t they have business-friendly policies?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

South Carolina’s unemployment rate has risen to 8.4%, which is one of the very worst in the nation:

http://www.thestate.com/breaking/story/626545.html

8.4% is actually higher than the unemployment rate of FRANCE, lol!

Why does South Carolina have such terrible policies that repel businesses? I thought people in the south were supposed to be good Republican folks who like business, but apparently not.

Why doesn’t South Carolina just pass some business-friendly policies, lower taxes, anti-union laws, and that sort of thing to attract business?
I live in Texas; our unemployment is pretty good.

The unemployment in SC is related to the drop-off in tourism and construction, two of the largest segments of their economy.
Some of it is also seasonal, related to agriculture.
There are auto manufacturing plants and associated industries that have seen slow-downs as auto sales have slumped.

They have had a large increase in permanent jobs in recent years tied to foreign investment and international trade.
Their favorable labor and tax policies have created a very good business climate but they have suffered from the world-wide recession.
Exports account for 10% of the State’s economy which means 1 in 13 private sector jobs so threats of trade sanctions by the Obama Administration have slowed down the jobs market substantially.
