Posted on March 7th, 2010 by admin

First Fort Hood and now the airline incident after only 1 year in office! Obama’s policies are failing badly. Is it time to go back to the Bush plan since it kept the US much safer?
Scott- the USS Cole happened under Clinton- duh!

Poll: What would be your office dress code policy if you were in charge of writing it?

Posted on March 5th, 2010 by admin

I’m thinking coveralls for everyone. What you have on underneath is your business and zipper position is at the employees choice. Summertime you and take the top half down and tie around your waist if you get too hot.

Stitching on your pocket or adding a decorative patch is optional.

fig leaves for everyone. anything more is optional. unless ur outta shape :) )

Can I cancel an eyeglass order from a doctor’s office? What is the normal policy?

Posted on March 2nd, 2010 by admin

I went for an eye exam yesterday morning and ordered a pair of eyeglasses from the same office. After 24 hours, I called to cancel, but was told that the office would be charged by the laboratory for cancelling any orders. However, they themselves have stated the process could take a week before my glasses would be ready. Therefore, I don’t understand why I would be charge for a cancellation fee after only 24 hours? Is this a normal practice/policy?

With all due respect, I don’t agree with the other answerer. You don’t "have to" agree with their policy, you can rage against the man. They do not have right (legal or otherwise) to set an unreasonable policy. Did you sign something that said the order was not cancellable? They should settle with you, cancel the order in consideration of a payment of a small fee.

Nobody has a unilateral right to dictate terms, it is a contract between two parties. If the terms were not stated, they can not create them to suit their own purposes. They are probably trying to rip you off, and you have to argue with them. Most people just give up and pay, and that’s why bad business practices are allowed to proliferate.

Particularly during difficult economic times, some unscrupulous businesses will try to behave badly, because they need the dough. But that doesn’t mean they are allowed to do it. You have rights and if you don’t stand up for them, nobody else will.

Good luck.

Why is the media lying about Obama going into the office & will start changing President Bushes policies?

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by admin

Obama said he is going to first address the economy!

Why would any new President just get into office to change the previous President’s policies?

Just because the negative media has continually sneaking in messages that President Bushes policies have been bad & any one who voted for them is bad… I noticed that these negative comments are almost subliminal sneaking in a middle of too many reports. I think these media should be fired!

2. And what policies need to be changed?

Are my tax $s going to be used to dissect embryos now?

I believe the Bush policies are essential for the better of USA.
peterrang, President Bush has been doing his best for the better of our Country. And because of President Bush, we are going to have a good next 4yrs no matter who was to be voted in.
I trust things are going to change for the better economically, starting now. We are going to have a Thanksgiving & Christmas to be thankful for. We are going to have better than ever economy & less war in the next 4yrs.
Because we have had a President who prayed for our Country. And Obama is also going to pray for our Country. African American Churches are the Churches that shake things up. It really is an answer to many African American prayers for Obama to be President.

But I am sick & tired of all these subliminal anti Bush or anti Republican sneaky media voodoo politics.
gramma, obviously you are one of the many Americans who don’t really care if a mother aborts her fetus.
To me, a fetus is a person too, just a littler more fragil ‘Who’.
And I would hope that you would decide to remove tumers, or unwanted tonsils.
I am all for stem cell research also. But totally against anyone using my tax $s for fetal stem cell research. Because I believe life starts at conception.
FYI, We have been successful with adult stem cell research. And medical advances have been made. But nothing of medical value has come out of dissecting embryos. Just destroying a life that was started.

The media loves Obama. The media helped get him elected. The media will continue to stick up for Obama! Sad but true!

The commonwealth of Kentucky has a swearing in public office policy can you print it out?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

Oath of Office
The following oath is administered to Kentucky Secretaries of State:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth, and be faithful and true to the Commonwealth of Kentucky so long as I continue a citizen thereof, and that I will faithfully execute, to the best of my ability, the office of Secretary of State according to law; and I do further solemnly swear (or affirm) that since the adoption of the present Constitution, I, being a citizen of this State, have not fought a duel with deadly weapons within this State nor out of it, nor have I sent or accepted a challenge to fight a duel with deadly weapons, nor have I acted as second in carrying a challenge, nor aided or assisted any person thus offending, so help me God.

Reference: Section 228 of the Constitution of Kentucky, as Ratified & Revised in 1891.

FOR GOVERNOR:

"You do solemnly swear that you will support
the Constitution of the United States
and the Constitution of this Commonwealth
and be faithful and true to the Commonwealth of Kentucky
so long as you continue a citizen thereof,
and that you will faithfully execute, to the best of your ability,
the office of Governor according to law;
and you do further solemnly swear that since the adoption
of the present Constitution, you, being a citizen of this State,
have not fought a duel with deadly weapons
within this State nor out of it, nor have you sent or
accepted a challenge to fight a duel with deadly weapons,
nor have you acted as a second in carrying a challenge, nor
aided or assisted any person thus offending,
so help you God."

Conservatives – Did you disagree with any of Bush (W’s) policies while he was in office?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

Which policies and why?
Actually, anyone can answer this question even if they’re not conservative as long as they accurately describe conservative views on the subject.

I strongly disagree(d) with No Child Left Behind. It’s a joke, and shows what a waste our Department of Education is.
I work in education and there are many problems with this policy, which, of course, sounds good in theory.
1- All students are not equal. We have to stop pretending that they are. Our biggest problem is we are not preparing all students for life when we force them all to take classes that may lead them to a University. We must get rid of the Graduation "requirements" and go back to doing what’s best for kids. Some kids should have an opportunity to learn job training. Nursing, plumbing, carpentry, etc.

2- I’m not opposed to evaluating schools and teachers. But there are too many variables for them to be accurate. How can I be accountable for a student whose absent 40 times/year? Who does nothing because mom doesn’t care or make him do work at home?

3- It also threatens to take away funding from "failing" schools, which of course will be in poor areas with more broken families. If anything, they need MORE funding to try to compete.

If we want to fix our education system, we have to fix the problems at the home. We must make ALL parties, students and parents as well, accountable. Teachers and schools are currently the only people being held accountable, yet, compared to the student themselves and the parents, have the least to do with a student’s success.

It was 36 degrees when President Bush took office, and 30 degrees today. Will BHO’s policies decrease the ?

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 by admin

global warming by 6 degrees when he leaves office in 2013?

I don’t think you understand global warming.

"Measurements show that over the last century the Earth’s climate has warmed overall, in all seasons, and in most regions. Climate skeptics mislead the public when they claim that the winter of 2003–2004 was the coldest ever in the northeastern United States. That winter was only the 33rd coldest in the region since records began in 1896. Furthermore, a single year of cold weather in one region of the globe is not an indication of a trend in the global climate, which refers to a long-term average over the entire planet."

Obama Takes Office: From Making History to Effective Administration in a Time of Crisis

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

Speakers: Jeffrey D. Straussman, Dean of Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, University at Albany;
Theodore R. Marmor, Adjunct Professor of Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School;
Alan Altshuler, Ruth and Frank Stanton Professor of Urban Policy and Planning, Harvard Kennedy School

President-elect Barack Obama created history by being elected the first African-American President of the United States of America. In his acceptance speech he declared that change has come to America and also acknowledged the difficult times facing the country. Set to assume office in less than a week, the incoming administration is concretizing its plans for change and preparing to address the ongoing financial crisis as well as many other challenges and constraints that face him in a range of areas. In so doing, Obama will have to cope with the double edged sword of unusually high expectations of both Americans and people worldwide. What strategies will Obama need to adopt to use presidential power effectively in this time of significant turmoil? How will he prioritize among competing issues calling out for his administrations attention? And how he will proceed to keep a workable political coalition intact while making difficult choices that will alienate some supporters? The three panelists, all distinguished senior analysts of executive power and American public policy, will discuss the challenges of Barack Obamas transition and will also respond to questions from the audience.
