does anyone know the policies and procedures of caring for a sick child in a early years setting?

Posted on June 15th, 2010 by admin

Ten points for best answer..
thank you
bella
i mean a child with a condition such as stills disease or a disease that a child will live with but thanks i will look t these .

Call the parent or emergency contact person as soon as possible a the child needs to be removed to a place where they can be looked after appropriately.

Which is not in a child care setting.

Unless the situation moves into an emergency, in which case an ambulance might have to be called,
while waiting for the parent/ carer to arrive the child is to be kept comfortable and safe.

Each setting will have it’s own policies and procedures

This is Imperial College London’s policy http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/eyec/policiesandprocedures/medicine

And here is one from a randomly chosen day nursery http://www.upperknappfarmdaynursery.co.uk/html/policies_and_procedures.html

Anyone know California Court of Appeals policies or procedures for how panels are chosen for a case?

Posted on May 13th, 2010 by admin

I need to know if a panel member change in a subsequent appeal violated California Court of Appeals policy or procedure in appeals. I think the particular division has de facto policies which they are trying to enforce in a particular case and stacked the panel against the party.
Also I think it violated a policy to also have the presiding justice author the opinion which coerced the other justices to accept it. Does anyone know what the official policies and procedures are for California Court of Appeals?

You don’t state which district this is, but in general the justices who are assigned to a case are chosen either at random or in rotation. The presiding justice has no more influence over a decision than any other justice, and it would be difficult for one justice to "coerce" another–they just do not have that much power over each other.

Many of the districts have their internal operating procedures posted here (although where they are found is not uniform):

What are the policies and procedures of confidentiality when working in a childcare setting?

Posted on May 9th, 2010 by admin

You need to check the individual school/nursery but in general they will tell you that anything told to you by a parent should not be discussed outside of the nursery/school. For example not as general chit chat.
Also any concerns you have about any children/parents (or as a parent) etc will be logged and must be discussed with the nursery manager/head teacher.
Nothing about the children must be posted on any social networking site.
Never give any details of a child out over the phone without checking who it is and why they want to know.
A form is signed by parents at the beginning of term stating that they are happy to have photographs taken of their child for use within nursery. No private photographs must be taken.
Any child protection issues are usually only discussed on a need to know basis so some staff may not know.

It is basic common sense really. Just don’t discuss the children or families with anyone who is not involved with them in some way. And always be careful what you say as there is a huge blame culture these days.
Hope this helps. I work in a nursery and a school.
