Do employees have any sort of protection when a company implements any sort of email and internet usage policies?

it actually protect the employers, for not doing personal things during office hours, or doing porn with company equipment

   not that i know of. i knew a man that had an affair with a woman. both were working in the school district. the man was fired, were the woman was only fined. why was it a matter of the school? because they were doing it during school time. moreover, they trolled through both email accounts and it turned out that the emails were the reason he was fired.
