Amen. Take the …
Amen. Take the thing. Have mom or dad get it. And, Zach, don’t bring anything like this again. Maybe you ought to to ask mom or dad about bringing something to school before you do. Someone needs 45 days of having “What the is wrong with you?” shouted at him or her 24 hours per day.

Zero tolerance …
Zero tolerance should be just that. Which also means against the teachers and schools. Look are the lowered test scores in this country.
Who is penalizing the schools for this? Oh wait, its done in form of budget cut backs and staff layoffs. Shit, I guess there true is zero tolerance.

Seriously…
Seriously…

45 days in reform …
45 days in reform school…I wonder what he’ll bring to school after that experience.

I liek how this …
I liek how this woman is trying to be professional and express her opinion on the story while this huge loud man yells and cuts her off making bad jokes.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
The parents and …
The parents and teachers needed to just talk to the kids about why they shouldn’t bring knives/other weapons to school.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Back when I was …
Back when I was seven I took a knife to school, it was confiscated and I was told if I wanted it back my parents would have to come and get it. I never brought a knife to school again. People need to relax a bit, this is getting ridiculous.

Six months in …
Six months in reform school will teach him the real lessons of survival in life. And when that doesn’t work, try prison. It’ll serve the little terrorist right.
All the adults have gone to Washington to help rule this land of hope and glory.
No wait, it is a stupid policy, and he didn’t do anything wrong. But then, I’m old enough to remember armouries in schools and they were safer then. The way I was treated in hs I wouldn’t go back without a pistol on my hip, and things are worse now.

shooogapie: It …
shooogapie: It wasn’t really a pocket knife. It was a Cub Scout utensil that can serve as a knife, fork, and spoon. The knife is as dull as a butter knife. The scissors that every school kid has in his desk are more dangerous.

He brought a pocket …
He brought a pocket knife to school. It included a fork, but there was also a knife. Don’t change the story.

My pen could be a …
My pen could be a weapon . . . Zero tolerance is bullshit.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
ZERO TOLERANCE …
ZERO TOLERANCE policies are poor solutions to fundamental social problems.
The first and foremost being the severe lack of real parental oversight (and really, parenting of any sort) over most modern youth.
So, in lieu of good parenting, we are reduced to absurd policies, like expelling someone for bringing a kitchen utensil to school.
Btw. this is very similar to some of the more extreme calls for “gun control” – as if the primary problem in the criminal use of a weapon is the utensil!
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Yep that’s so …
Yep that’s so up and a great message too. You can’t bring a knife to school now but when you get older you can carry a semi automatic gun anywhere u want. Compromise?

JR is right. We …
JR is right. We shouldn’t be so scared. I remember the time when I was 12 and they let me on an airplane with not 1 but 2 pocket knives. I even told them at check-in that I had them and the attendant just laughed, thought it was cute. These days they’d probably arrest my 11 year old ass. I was going to camp and that’s why I had them with me.

I love how people …
I love how people think that if you ban a gun from school, then nobody will hurt others. LAWL! Interesting how people try to avoid the fact that its the person that does the crime. If i wanted to, I couldve killed someone in high school quite easily by my math book, a pencil, maybe a sharpened ruler? Well damn, gotta ban that stuff. After banning it all, we will all be peaceful, loving human beings! but man, when we see a weapon in front of us, we somehow feel the urge to kill. Laughable

I don’t know how to …
I don’t know how to correctly say this though but books can also be used as a weapon, you can hit somebody with it pretty hard, therefor, there should be a zero tolerance policy in schools for books.
Ow yeah, everyone can throw a chair around, that makes it dangerous, thus ban all chairs from schools as well.
As this kid doesn’t know for what he’s actually getting to be punished for, he’s going to hate school and maybe next time bring that knife to school for another different reason.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
first of all.. …
first of all.. school shouldnt be parenting the kids.. the loser lamer parents should beat their kids.. then no one will have problems
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Everyone is capable …
Everyone is capable of thinking, right?
Aren’t young children capable of being shamed into learning a lesson? Can’t you just scold him and withhold something minor for a month and that be that? Why does this need to go any further?
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
What they going to …
What they going to cut the cake with a spoon.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I know this sounds …
I know this sounds crazy, but what if, just what if, schools don’t have the right to regulate what kids bring, other than what existing laws (that apply to everybody) already cover? Schools are second only to parents in terms of violating childrens’ civil rights.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
at the end October …
at the end October 17 ,2009
But it was realeased on October 16
Hmm…
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
If it were me, …
If it were me, reform school would him up.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I don’t think that …
I don’t think that it is APPLIED disproportionately but it’s that minorities perform these acts more often
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
And nobody took …
And nobody took action against the nuts who bring guns to townhall meetings.
October 25th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
and this is how you …
and this is how you up the next generation, you dont talk, you just punish, most of these kids have no clue what they did wrong.
