Why did Obama hire the failures from the Clinton admin for his foreign policy staff? Does that indicate change

Duly noted ducky. Still waiting…

Clinton similarly promised a new type of government, and then took on Carter administration appointees, such as Warren Christopher.

It’s Warren Christopher we have to thank for the 1994 treaty with North Korea that gave them a billion a year in free energy, and yet required no nuclear inspections to insure their compliance, allowing N. Korea 10 years to secrectly develop nukes undisturbed.

In full disclosure and equal time, the Republicans do it too, most notably in W. Bush’s appointment of Rumsfeld and Cheney from the Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations.

compared to bush, Bill Clinton was the Master of foreign policy.

it would be a positive "change" from what we have suffered under bush

He had to do something to get her to support him. Better that than her.

Your question presupposes that the Clinton administartion had a failed foreign policy.

Yet you don’t provide a shred of evidence for that.

Obviously, Obama’s use of the word "change" refers to change from the immediately preceding administartion, not change from an administration that ended 8 years ago.

That should have been pretty obvious.

Look, if I used to travel west and I switched to traveling north…..it would still be a change to travel west, even though I traveled west before.

It is change. The change he speaks about for the most part is changing the political mindset in Washington and America. This does include some policy changes but that is part of the change.

And sorry, but Bush’s foreign policy has been largely ineffective. We’ll see what happens with N. Korea (they have agreed to give up developing nukes before and lied) and I hope it all works out for the best.

No, it does not indicate the kind of "fresh start" his candidacy appeared to promise.

Because he likes them and believes they are qualified. It indicates he’s running for Clinton’s third term which would be change from Bush but not really impressive or radical change from the American political tradition.
