Javed: Future of Pak Taliban Policy?

Javed Chaudhry – host of Kal Tak program in Pakistan – describes the ad-hoc, inconsistent, and shortsighted approach to the “war on terror” by Pakistani government. He explains how the military operation against Taliban in Swat and Malakand is representative of Pakistani state’s historical predisposition towards piece-meal solutions; there is no way government will be able to conduct similar wars against Talibanization and domestic terrorism in other parts of the country. According to him, it is very important that the state seriously explores a viable long-term solution to forced Islamization and Jihadi insurgency problems and be prepared to apply it consistently throughout Pakistan.
